HSI To Host a Vendor Tutorial on Wi-Fi and 3G Technology and Showcase Its Revolutionary Profit Series Mobile Point Of Sale Featuring Apple’s iPod touch at HITEC (HSI Booth #305)
Scottsdale, AZ—June 16, 2009—Hospitality Solutions International (HSI), a division of MICROS Systems, Inc., and a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, today announced it will showcase its revolutionary handheld POS, Profit Series Mobile, with Apple’s iPod touch® at the 2009 HITEC conference, being held at the Anaheim Convention Center June 22-25. Additionally, HSI will host a vendor tutorial in Room B during HITEC on June 23, at 12:45pm, educating attendees on the current capabilities of extending POS systems using Wi-Fi and 3G technology.
The vendor tutorial entitled “Beyond Wireless POS: Today’s Capabilities Using Wi-Fi and 3G Technology” focuses on expanding the reach of point of sale using wireless handheld devices and 3G/4G network devices including mobile phones and modems. Topics covered include suitable environments, security concerns and challenges, and the future including consumer driven solutions.
HSI will showcase its Profit Series Mobile POS, used exclusively with Apple’s iPod touch®, that is revolutionizing the way hoteliers and restaurateurs approach handheld and mobile point of sale. The flexibility of the iPod touch® enables it to be used for a variety of tasks including patio and pool-side ordering, manager functions such as voids and discounts, and it is a great fit as a mini-bar solution in properties with wireless throughout. Built-in Wi-Fi wireless connectivity on the iPod touch® enables access to HSI’s hosted applications such as the MyHSI.net Enterprise Reporting Tool.
In addition to the flexibility of use with other HSI applications, the iPod touch® displays Profit Series’ full-size POS screens. Unlike most handheld POS applications, Profit Series Mobile uses the exact same screens as its traditional POS terminals – eliminating the need for additional training. Apple’s multi-touch feature enables the user to enlarge any part of the screen using a thumb and index finger and then touch the selection just as you would on a traditional POS terminal. Additionally, through the use of the Accelerometer, each screen may be viewed in portrait or landscape and immediately adjusts to the proper aspect ratio.
The attractively priced Apple iPod touch®, coupled with HSI’s Profit Series Mobile software, make it the most affordable handheld POS device on the market. According to Apple executives, HSI’s Profit Series POS is currently the only point of sale solution available for use with the iPod touch®.
